As we began our ride, the roads were deserted, resembling a ghost town. Reaching Padgett Road, we were greeted by cool-looking dense fog. Few cars were seen even on Wren Road, which is usually busier. Our journey continued through Kerkman, Dersham, Mountaindale, and Dairy Creek roads, encountering the usual sparse traffic, which allowed us to ride side by side and chat. On Fern Flatt Road, we encountered sticky mud, causing my legs to tire and slow me down. My fitter brother sped ahead, bypassing our regular hangout spot on a bridge. Opting not to travel the entire road, we stopped at the next bridge to take a break and snap some photos. It was then I realized our peanut butter sandwiches were missing from the lunch bag, leaving us with just coffee and Paydays. After enjoying a few more cups of coffee, we resumed our ride. Ahead, cyclists on road bikes descended from Greener Road at an impressive speed, navigating loose rocks and mud—perhaps they were on cyclocross bikes. Although we expected to catch up with them, they likely maintained a speed of 18 MPH. The ride back on Dairy Creek went smoothly, but on Mountaindale Road, we were engulfed in exhaust by a diesel truck, and another driver impatiently passed us, likely resenting our presence as some do with cyclists.
